Lincoln Riley offered an update on running back MarShawn Lloyd Thursday afternoon after Lloyd missed last week’s loss to Washington. Lloyd suffered an undisclosed injury during USC’s tight win over Cal.

The South Carolina transfer is working his way back and practiced with the team yesterday. According to Riley, Lloyd is trending int the right direction to be back for Saturday’s game against Oregon in Eugene.

“There’s progressions from any injury,” Riley said. “He’s trending well. I think barring anything unforeseen, I think he’ll be available for us on Saturday.”

Lloyd has been excellent for the Trojans this season. He’s averaging 85 yards per game and has 8 touchdowns on the year to go alongside his 766 total rushing yards, which ranks 4th in the conference.

The Trojans offense has been far from the problem this season. No, that problem would be on the defensive side of the ball. The Trojans have a bottom 10 defense in the conference, one that has lost the Trojans at least 2 games this season.

And things won’t be getting any easier, despite the firing of former DC Alex Grinch. USC draws CFP No. 6 Oregon this week at 7:30 p.m. PT.
