Lincoln Riley insists USC might have 'the No. 1 offense in the country'
Lincoln Riley and USC downed Arizona in triple overtime Saturday night, 43-41 to improve to 6-0 on the season.
The good news is USC is still undefeated and will likely still be a top 10 team in the country come this week’s AP poll. That’s about where the good news from last night ends, though.
Riley was positive regarding his team postgame despite a bad Arizona squad that took the Trojans to the wire. He insisted that the defense took important steps while also stating he believes the Trojans may have the No. 1 offense in the country right now.
And while you can scorn Riley all you want for his defensive comments, you have to appreciate what the Trojans have done on offense despite a less than ideal showing Saturday. Here’s his full comments on his offense:
“I think it might be the No. 1 offense in the country right now. My expectations are higher than anybody’s. I want to score every freakin’ time we have the ball. In reality, that’s not gonna happen. And you can either panic or you can get back on it. We didn’t play our best tonight by any stretch, but one game to another, I wouldn’t count us out just yet.”
The Trojans still haven’t hit the tough part of their schedule. USC still has to face Oregon, Washington, Utah and Notre Dame in the final half of the season.
