LeBron James gives update on Bronny James' status, possible timeline for return
LeBron James gave an update on his son, Bronny James, and his health status on Monday night.
Earlier in the offseason, James suffered a cardiac event during a workout at USC. Doctors later said they believed the event was caused by a “congenital heart defect,” which is treatable.
On Monday night, the elder James said the USC freshman is making progress and could return to the practice court with his USC teammates in a matter of weeks.
“Things are going in the right direction with Bronny’s progress,” James said. “He’s doing rehab. Every week he gets to do more and more and more. We have a big moment at the end of this month to see if we can continue to go forward. If he’s cleared, we’ll be not too long away from him being back on the floor and back with his teammates and practicing, with the notion of him being back on the floor and playing game situations.
“Everything is on the up and up. We’re proud of his progress, we’re proud of his strength.”
USC basketball picked up a big win on Monday night over Kansas State to open the 2023-24 season. Fellow freshman guard Isaiah Collier had a big night with 18 points and 6 assists.
If James is able to get on the floor for the 2023-24 season, he would be a big boost for the Trojans.
USC will play Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday.
