Josh Henson, USC OL coach, announces starting change at left tackle
Josh Henson, who coaches the offensive line at USC, told reporters Thursday at USC’s media day that Jonah Monheim will switch to right tackle. Monheim will be switching from left tackle with Michael Tarquin, who has previously played right tackle for the Trojans.
Monheim has started 21 games for the Trojans across 4 seasons in Los Angeles. Henson pointed to his consistency from a rep to rep basis as a reason for the change:
USC OL coach Josh Henson said today that Jonah Monheim, who was previously the RT, and Michael Tarquin, who played LT in spring, have switched.
What went into the switch? “Jonah’s consistency, how consistent he is on a rep by rep basis.”

Monheim responded to the switch shortly after, saying he’s ready to do whatever the coaches ask of him:
Jonah Monheim said about the switch that “my thought process is just kind of always the same. Whatever the coaches ask of me.”
Henson said he still thinks Monheim’s future in the NFL lies on the interior. But for now, he’ll be LT.
