It is rivalry week in Los Angeles and the hate is flowing already. There is certainly no love lost between USC and UCLA. Not after the way last year’s game went at the L.A. Coliseum, and certainly not considering what’s on the line at the Rose Bowl this Saturday.

USC and UCLA battle for a spot in the Pac-12 title game at 5 p.m. PT on FOX this Saturday. A Trojan win would secure USC a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game. A Bruin win would mean UCLA simply has to be a downtrodden Cal team in the regular-season finale.

With so much still to play for, there are certainly going to be big emotions on both sides, but UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson started up the shots on Monday.

The fifth-year senior said “obviously we hate those guys across town” and that the Bruins are looking to put another 60 points on the Trojans. UCLA won last year’s game 62-33.

“He said that?” USC safety Calen Bullock said when informed about the 60-point comment on Tuesday, according to The O.C. Register’s Adam Grosbard. “He (has) his own opinion. We know what we’re about to go out there and do. We’re about to execute. I know that’s not gonna happen.”

In last year’s meeting, Thompson-Robinson totaled 349 passing yards and accounted for six touchdowns to help the Bruins post a record for points scored in the crosstown series, which began in 1929.

USC wideout Jordan Addison said he didn’t see DTR’s comments, but he was plenty prepared to return serve as the trash-talking gets underway.

“Who wouldn’t want to put 60 up on us? We’re USC,” Addison said. “But they’re going to have to stand behind that. He’s gonna have to stand on them words.”
