A filed citation revealed Monday that Minnesota Vikings and former USC Trojans wide receiver Jordan Addison gave a bizarre excuse for being caught speeding at 140 MPH in a 55 MPH zone Thursday.

Addison, who was drafted No. 23 overall by the Vikings last spring, told officers that he was speeding because his dog was, “having an emergency at his residence.”

According to ESPN, the 21-year old issued a public apology shortly after the incident, saying he “made a mistake and used poor judgment.” No further comment was made about the emergency.

Addison’s speeding warranted misdemeanor charges for both speeding and reckless driving. He was reportedly driving a Lamborghini Urus eastbound on I-94 when observed by an officer just after 3 a.m. driving at an “extremely high rate of speed.”
