Joel Klatt shared his top five candidates for the Heisman Trophy as Saturday’s action finished up. The FOX analyst has Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker, Michigan’s Blake Corum, and USC’s Caleb Williams as his primary competitors for the most prestigious award in college football.

“These five,” Klatt said, “are waging a phenomenal battle this year.”

In his second year of college ball, Williams has taken what was a 4-8 USC team and helped it to a 9-1 record. The Trojans are a win over UCLA away from securing a spot in the Pac-12 championship game and still right in the thick of the College Football Playoff conversation.

In USC’s 55-17 win over Colorado last Friday, Williams threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for two more scores. He became the first USC quarterback to have multiple games in a single season with multiple rushing scores since complete records were first kept in 1972.

Thanks to his play, te Trojan offense also topped 40 points for the fourth consecutive game, its longest streak since 2003.
