ESPN’s College GameDay panel is split on the top-25 showdown in South Bend.

No. 10 USC heads out on the road to face No. 21 Notre Dame in a game that has major stakes for the Trojans. Despite continuing to win each week, the Trojans have dropped in the polls three straight weeks. USC will be looking for a statement kind of performance against Notre Dame.

Here’s how the panel picked:

  • Desmond Howard: USC
  • Pat McAfee: Notre Dame
  • Joel McHale (celebrity guest): Notre Dame
  • Lee Corso: USC
  • Kirk Herbstreit: USC

“I think Caleb Williams makes enough plays,” Herbstreit said. “Spirited fight, Caleb Williams wins the game late.”

USC hasn’t won in South Bend since 2011. The program has lost five straight games at Notre Dame.

But that was a different USC. Lincoln Riley has installed arguably the best offense in the country in Los Angeles, and it’s led by the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. Quarterback Caleb Williams was held to an uncharacteristically quiet day passing a week ago in USC’s 43-41 win over Arizona in triple-overtime, yet he still managed four touchdowns.

USC will need Williams to once again be at his very best in a road rivalry game on Saturday.

Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
