Eric Gentry blocks Colorado punt, USC immediately scores to build on huge first-half lead
Eric Gentry made his first impact on Saturday’s game on special teams, and it almost immediately led to another USC score.
The 6-foot-6 linebacker came flying in to block a rugby-style punt from Colorado’s Mark Vassett in the second quarter. Romello Height fell on the ball at the CU 23-yard-line to give USC possession right on the edge of the red zone.

Tailback MarShawn Lloyd got the ball on first down. Quarterback Caleb Williams fired for a touchdown on second down to put USC up 27-7.
And just like that @uscfb adds on another TD ⚡️✌️

Williams completed 11 of his first 14 passes against the Buffs for 187 yards and three scores. He was excellent when USC had the football, but the lead ballooned because of what happened when Williams was on the sideline.
Colorado had several miscues in the first half. A 16-play, 67-yard Colorado drive ended with nothing after CU missed a field goal from the USC 23. The next drive ended with an interception from quarterback Shedeur Sanders on the third play.
CU found the endzone on its next drive, but the momentum immediately dissipated as Vassett had his punt blocked after a three-and-out.
