Dorian Singer made his first catch as a Trojan a special one.

The USC wide receiver paid off a 10-play drive on USC’s opening offensive possession of the 2023 season with a touchdown. USC went empty and quarterback Caleb Williams found Singer over the middle for a 13-yard touchdown.

USC’s opening possession covered 80 yards in 10 plays and 3:41 to go on top against San Jose State.

Singer transferred to USC this offseason after a breakout year for Arizona in 2022. A former walk-on, Singer partnered with UA wideout Jacob Cowing to terrorize opposing secondaries — including USC’s. Singer produced 1,105 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His yardage trailed only Washington’s Rome Odunze in the Pac-12.

Singer exploded against Southern Cal in the Oct. 29 meeting. USC walked away with a 45-37 win over the Wildcats, but Singer certainly did his part to try and get a win. He had seven catches for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Williams told reporters this offseason that, during that game, he turned to USC’s coaching staff on the sideline and told them to go out and get Singer.

Expect that won’t be the last connection between the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and Singer.
