Caleb Williams won the 2022 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night during a ceremony in New York City.

It comes after a season in which Williams tied for the FBS lead with 37 touchdown passes, added another 10 scores as a runner and only threw 4 interceptions.

But no one manages to become a star alone. During an appearance on CBS’s “NFL Today,” the USC quarterback said his parents deserve the credit for getting him to where he is today:

“They were the main part of it,” Williams said. “Obviously I didn’t have the plan, I didn’t have the resources. I was just a kid, had a dream, had goals and aspirations to do big things. My mom and my dad, they were huge in creating a plan and planning things out for me to where now I’m standing here today in front of y’all.”

Williams also said his relationship with USC coach Lincoln Riley is great and he is excited to try to win a national championship next year:

“Right now it’s booming and we’ve got another year, and the job’s not done,” he said.

Can the Trojans get the job done in 2023? They came up potentially 1 win short of the Playoff this season, losing in the Pac-12 title game against Utah.
