When Ohio State’s 45-23 loss to Michigan went final, USC quarterback Caleb Williams became the betting favorite to win the 2022 Heisman Trophy.

Hours later, Williams went out against Notre Dame and showed the world who the most prestigious trophy in sports belongs to this season. Williams scored his eighth rushing touchdown of the season on a read option keeper to put No. 6 USC up 17-7 on No. 15 Notre Dame.

After the score, Williams flashed the Heisman pose to his teammates as he made his way to the sideline.

With two first-half touchdowns in the contest, Williams set a USC single-season record for touchdowns with 42.

The Oklahoma transfer entered Saturday’s contest with 3,480 passing yards (at 9 per pass) and 33 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He went four straight games with five scores from Oct. 15 to Nov. 11, then threw for a career-high 470 yards to lead USC over UCLA at the Rose Bowl last week.

Williams is looking to become the eighth Trojan to win the Heisman Trophy. (Reggie Bush’s 2005 win was later vacated, but we’re still counting him here.)
