Caleb Williams says he has not yet made up his mind on the NFL.

USC’s star quarterback could declare for the 2024 NFL Draft once the regular season concludes on Saturday with the Trojans’ game against UCLA. Since USC’s year is ending a week early and the Trojans will have Thanksgiving week off, Williams says he plans to discuss his next steps over the holiday with his family.

He could leave USC after two seasons, a Heisman Trophy, and a role in rebalancing the program. He could also opt to return — something that has been floated as a possibility for months.

Williams mentioned several times on Wednesday when he met with reporters that a decision hasn’t yet been made.

That decision will also factor into whether Williams plays in whatever bowl game USC attends.

“If I make the decision to leave, I’ll have to make that decision towards the end of it,” Williams said this week. “Since we’re not playing Thanksgiving, I get to be around my family, get to make certain decisions that I haven’t made yet,” Williams said. “If I’m staying here at USC, I don’t think I’d not be out there.”

It was suggested earlier this year that Williams shut down for the rest of the season following the team’s loss to Utah. Williams said that was never a consideration for him.

“I was going to stick it out with these guys regardless of whatever decision I was going to make,” he said.

At the time of the Utah loss, USC was still very much in control of its fate with regard to the Pac-12 Championship Game. Now, the regular-season finale against UCLA will just be about posturing for a better bowl game. Currently, ESPN projects USC to the Las Vegas Bowl against Wisconsin or Nebraska.

Williams wouldn’t be the first prominent draftee to sit out a non-CFP, non-NY6 bowl game. But that sounds like it’s still something that is up for consideration.
