Brenden Rice speaks to USC locker room's mindset after consecutive losses
Brenden Rice says USC’s locker room is hungry.
Following a heartbreaking 34-32 loss to No. 13 Utah on Saturday, the Trojan wide receiver joined College Sports on SiriusXM Radio to discuss how the roster is holding up. The Trojans have lost two straight and have seen their season reach a crucial juncture.
“I think the people in the locker room are trying to tap in more into that hunger of what we had in the beginning of the season,” Rice said. “I felt that we got a little bit complacent, and now it’s a rally the troops type of moment.”
Jerry’s son is second on the team with 38 catches for 486 yards, although he leads USC with 8 receiving touchdowns.
“A lot of people want to go ahead and count us out,” Rice said. “Sometimes you’re gonna fall down, there’s gonna be some errors. But, there’s always a chance to get back up and remind people that this is USC.”
In a game in which USC wanted to prove that it could match up physically with Utah, the Trojans were out-gained 247-145 on the ground. Thus, they lost the time of possession battle 34:42-25:18.
USC still sits with only one conference loss and will get a shot at Washington (home), Oregon (road), and UCLA (home) to make up ground on the Pac-12 leaders.
With @uscfb coming off back to back losses, how is the morale for the Trojans?
