Listed at 6-foot-3 and 325 pounds, Alexander was a 4-star DL and the 50th overall recruit for the 2022 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite. He appeared in 12 games for the Bulldogs and saved his best for last, recording 2 TFL and a sack in the national title blowout win over TCU.
Bear Alexander’s impact on USC
The Trojans won 11 games a season ago and played for the Pac-12 championship, all in spite of a defense that gave up 424 yards per game. That defensive performance included a dreadful 160 rushing yards per game with opposing teams gaining 5 yards per carry.
At the end of the day, USC’s defense was in need of some major upgrades in performance and toughness at multiple positions. The addition of Alexander addresses some of those needs in the trenches.
