Andrew Vorhees received some discouraging news at the NFL Combine, but he still stuck around to deliver an impressive performance in the bench press workout.

It was reported Monday morning that Vorhees suffered an ACL tear during his NFL Combine workouts. Widely regarded as one of the top interior offensive linemen in the draft, Vorhees’ stock will undoubtedly take a hit due to his recovery timeline.

Despite his injury, Vorhees still took part in Monday’s bench press just hours after the injury. Sporting a massive brace and using crutches to get to the bench, Vorhees delivered a near-legendary performance with those in attendance urging him on.

After news of Vorhees’ injury spread, head coach Lincoln Riley revealed the lineman “played hurt the entire 2nd half of the season” and called the former Trojan a “complete warrior.” Vorhees’ performance speaks to that nature.

What is Vorhees’ outlook after the injury?

Prior to the ACL injury, Vorhees was projected as a top-100 prospect for this year’s draft, indicating he was probably going to come off the board somewhere in Rounds 3 or 4. He will undoubtedly drop a bit, but how far remains to be determined.

While the bench press performance alone cannot buoy Vorhees’ stock, it is still something he was able to put on tape for NFL teams in attendance. He at least showed an ability to stand strong and deliver in the face of adversity, and that speaks to the character of Vorhees.
