UCLA will face Pitt in the Sun Bowl.

The Bruins (9-3, 6-3 Pac-12) will face the Panthers (8-4, 5-3 ACC) for just the 15th time in program history and the first since 1972. UCLA has won seven of the last eight meetings with Pitt.

The Sun Bowl is set to take place in El Paso, Texas on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. PT on CBS.

UCLA is looking for its first bowl victory since 2014. Coach Chip Kelly got the Bruins to the Holiday Bowl last year, but the Bruins had to cancel because of COVID issues within the program the day of the game.

Assuming the Bruins take the field this time around, it’ll be their first postseason appearance since 2017.

It could also be the final games for UCLA stars Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Zach Charbonnet. Thompson-Robinson has accepted an invitation to the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl, and said after the Bruins’ final regular-season game he was still undecided on whether or not he’d play in the bowl game.
