UCLA coach Chip Kelly has to be counting down the days until Dante Moore arrives on campus. The 5-star 2023 quarterback has all the makings of a future Bruin star.

And he closed out his high school career with one of the top honors in the country. This week, Moore was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Michigan.

The Detroit (Mich.) King standout threw for 2,392 yards and 32 touchdowns against just three interceptions as a senior this past season. He added another 235 yards rushing and five scores. He finished his high school career with a 40-11 record across four seasons, during which he completed 70% of his passes, threw for 135 touchdowns, and led King to three state title games.

He fired four touchdown passes in King’s 56-27 win over Muskegon High in the state tital game.

Moore played right away as a high school freshman. He will land in Westwood soon with a strong chance of doing the same at the collegiate level. A 5-star, top-15 prospect, few in the 2023 class have a better résumé.
