Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty defensive lineman Grant Buckey, a member of USC’s 2023 class since June, will still play his college ball in Los Angeles, but he’ll be suiting up in blue instead of red.

Buckey announced on social media Thursday that he has flipped his commitment from USC to UCLA. The Bruins were on Buckey initially, but USC landed a verbal from him shortly after a summer visit. The Bruins stayed in the picture though and pulled off the flip.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman was a disruptive force along the line of scrimmage as a junior, credited with 51 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks, and three forced fumbles. He added another 52 tackles, five sacks, and a forced fumble as a senior this fall.

Buckey is rated as a 3-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite and ranked as the 62nd defensive lineman in his class, the 39th-ranked prospect from the state of California, and the 551st overall recruit in the country. Buckey also competes in shot put and discus.

He gives UCLA its 11th known commitment in the 2023 class. You can view Buckey’s highlight tape below, via Hudl:
