UCLA basketball showed some impressive stuff last night despite a 71-69 loss to No. 4 Marquette.

The score speaks for itself here: This game deserved overtime like no other. UCLA not only competed in this game, they led for a good chunk of it. The backbreaker came at the start of the 2nd half when Marquette went on a 17-0 run to take a 50-45 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

Adem Bona gave UCLA the lead with just under a minute remaining, but the Bruins couldn’t answer a Sean Jones 3-pointer to give Marquette the win. The Golden Eagles now sit at 4-0 on the season while UCLA is 3-1.

There are some major positives to take from Monday night’s game. For one, Sebastian Mack.

The freshman shooting guard scored a game-high 25 points with 6 rebounds, a pair of assists and 2 steals. He was everywhere against one of the top teams the Bruins will play all season.
