UCLA football added a transfer commitment out of the Mountain West Tuesday afternoon.

Marcus Ratcliffe, a former San Diego State safety, entered the transfer portal at the start of December. The true freshman safety announced Tuesday that he will be transferring to UCLA.

Ratcliffe was a starting option for the Aztecs this past season and will have 3 years of eligibility remaining with the Bruins. This past season he totaled 50 tackles with 30 solo, 1.5 for loss and 1 interception with 1 pass deflection.

Ratcliffe is the first to transfer into UCLA out of the transfer portal. However, the Bruins have lost 8 players to the portal, including QB Dante Moore, TE Carsen Ryan and safety Kamari Ramsey.

The former 3-star prospect had just 4 Power 5 offers out of high school: Cal, Colorado, Arizona and BYU. Now, he heads to the Big Ten as UCLA begins its first season as a member of the conference next year.
