Russell Westbrook accomplished an extraordinary feat Monday night, moving into the top 10 all-time career assist leaders across NBA history. Westbrook, who was drafted 4th overall out of UCLA in 2008, now has an incredible 8,967 assists and counting across his 15-year career.

Westbrook surpassed Gary Payton Monday night and now sets his sights on 9th all-time, needing to pass Isiah Thomas’ number of 9,061.

Westbrook has been one of the most interesting players in the league for some time now. He’s an incredible athlete and one of the best facilitating point guards in basketball, but he struggles to score at times for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Westbrook currently has 11 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds through 14 minutes of play for the Lakers, trailing the Brooklyn Nets by 12.
