Report: UCLA secures commitment from international rim-protector
According to Eurohopes, UCLA has earned a commitment from international big man Ege Demir.
The scouting service reported on Sunday that Demir, a 6-foot-10 center from Turkey plans to enroll at UCLA for the 2022-23 season. Demir would provide the Bruins with an enforcer type in the middle of the paint, a young player with major upside. According to Eurohopes, Demir was an All-Tournament Team selection at 2022 ANGT Belgrade for Tofas Bursa, averaging 12.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game.

He most recently played for Akran Gemlik Basketball in Turkey, where he averaged 10 points and 8 boards a game. Scouting reports from Eurospects describe a player who is physically superior to most of his peers, a big man who can get up and block shots and clean the boards. He is originally from Nigeria.
Demir’s addition would leave the Bruins with one remaining open scholarship. He’d join a frontcourt rotation with 5-star center Adem Bona, Mac Etienne, and Kenneth Nwuba. The 2022-23 season for UCLA begins on Nov. 7 against Sacramento State.
