Mick Cronin was not happy with the officiating in the Pac-12 Tournament championship game.

In the first half, an incredible tomahawk dunk from Amari Bailey was waived off by an offensive foul call from the officiating crew, causing Cronin to explode on the sideline. It took two points off the board in a game where the Bruins eventually lost by two.

Arizona’s Courtney Ramey hit a 3-pointer with 18 seconds to play to help lift the Wildcats over the Bruins 61-59 to claim the Pac-12 Tournament championship. Asked for his takeaways after the game, Cronin was short.

“My takeaway is an offensive foul not called (and) they hit a 3,” he told reporters. “But they had an offensive foul on a guy who had the best dunk of the season.”

Here’s the play from Bailey earlier in the game:

It was a call that immediately drew the ire of many on social media, with folks claiming it to be one of the worst calls they’ve ever seen in a college basketball game.

And here’s the play where Ramey shook his defender and drilled the triple:

Of course, Cronin pointed out other mistakes that also hurt UCLA in the loss. Tyger Campbell — a 78% free throw shooter for his career — missed one of two at the foul line with six seconds left that would have tied the game. Both of UCLA’s available centers fouled out in the second half as well, leaving the rotation significantly undersized.

“Tyger’s beating himself up over a missed free throw, but that had nothing to do with some of our bad fouls and defensive breakdowns,” Cronin said. “Those are controllables. I’ll put my career on the line with Tyger at the line.”

And in the end, UCLA had a wide-open look for Dylan Andrews to win the game at the buzzer. It just missed.

“We’ll take it,” Cronin said. “It is what it is. Get some rest, get ready for the real tournament.”
