Mick Cronin reacts to passing of legendary coach Bob Knight
Mick Cronin spoke about the relationship with Bob Knight after the former Indiana coach passed away Wednesday.
Cronin extended condolences to Knight’s family on behalf of the entire UCLA men’s basketball program. Knight actually called a few UCLA games during his time as a broadcaster.
“On behalf of the UCLA men’s basketball program, I would like to offer our condolences to my friend Pat Knight and the entire Knight family,” Cronin said. “I was honored to meet Coach Knight and then receive advice from him after he had called several of my team’s games as a broadcaster.”

Cronin always cherished the times listening to Knight talk about the game of basketball.
“I will always cherish those moments where I got to listen to him speak about the game of basketball as I was just a young coach who he hardly knew,” said Cronin. “The game of basketball has lost one of the greatest we have seen or will ever see. Rest in peace, Coach Knight.”
After coaching at Indiana until 2000, Knight was at Texas Tech until 2008 before retiring as a coach altogether. Shortly after his retirement from coaching, Knight joined ESPN as a color commentator.
