Matt Sykes originally joined UCLA via the 2020 recruiting class. Now, the 6-foot-4 wide receiver out of Hawaii is on the move via the transfer portal.

On Tuesday, Sykes announced he will be transferring to Rice for the 2023 season.

Coming out of high school, Sykes was a 3-star recruit and the No. 5 prospect out of Hawaii for the 2020 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He was also rated as the 73rd WR in the country.

Sykes played sparingly during his time with the Bruins with his biggest season coming in 2022. He finished the year with 6 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown with his 14.3 yards per catch ranking 4th on UCLA.
