Jaime Jaquez Jr. is already regarded as one of the NBA’s very best rookies.

On Monday, the league announced the former UCLA Bruin has been selected as the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in October and November. Jaquez, drafted by the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft, is the first Heat rookie to earn the honor since the 2019-20 season.

He is just the fifth player in franchise history to do so, joining Caron Butler (four times), Kendrick Nunn (three times), Josh Richardson, and Michael Beasley.

In 19 games (four starts) through October and November, Jaquez averaged 12.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 26.6 minutes while shooting 53% from the field, 39% from 3, and 88% from the foul line.

Jaquez ranks in the top 10 among NBA rookies in points per game (fifth), rebounds (eighth), assists (eighth), and steals (second). He has immediately become a trusted part of the rotation for coach Erik Spoelstra in the fourth quarter.

The Heat are 11-9 this season and currently sit seventh in the East. They face Toronto Wednesday night at 4:30 p.m. PT.
