Dante Moore responds to rumors of frustration with NIL situation at UCLA
Dante Moore doesn’t pay much attention to social media. He made that clear over the weekend when he met with reporters. Prior to Sunday, the freshman quarterback’s last tweet was on Jan. 8.
But he went back to the platform on Sunday to address rumors that he was unhappy with his NIL situation at UCLA and was already considering transferring. Moore called the rumors “totally false” and said he’s “blessed and thankful” to be with the Bruins.

In a recent podcast from 247Sports’ UCLA site, it was intimated that Moore was frustrated with his NIL situation. There were also suggestions that Moore could look to leave if he didn’t win the starting quarterback job.
On the latter front, Moore spoke over the weekend about taking fall camp day by day and not worrying about the competition element of it. He’s a 5-star freshman recruit and was one of the 10 highest-rated prospects in America in his class, but coach Chip Kelly and Co. are not handing him the starting job. He’ll have to beat out Ethan Garbers and Kent State transfer Collin Schlee.
“If you have selfish players on a team, that’s not gonna be a great team at all. That’s not gonna be a winning team,” he said. “I just know I wake up every morning, better myself every day.”
When Kelly met with reporters Tuesday, he said any frustration from Moore would be news to him.
“Dante’s awesome. That kid in this building every day has a real special effect on everybody. He seems like he’s in the building 24/7, but he’s really mature beyond his age,” Kelly said. “I think he’s a little bit of an old soul. He’s really thankful for everything that’s been given to him. And it’s the same thing you’ve heard from everywhere he’s been. I met a bunch of coaches from the All-American game that were on the opposing team and they talked about Dante being in their hospitality suite with their kicker, their punter, their long snapper just hanging out.
“That’s the same thing we’ve seen since he got here in January. Couldn’t be more happy that he’s here.”
