Chip Kelly believes UCLA has three quarterbacks — Ethan Garbers, Dante Moore, Collin Schlee — who are all capable of starting at the Power Five level.

In the Bruins’ season opener, Garbers started for UCLA. For the next five games, Moore was the starter. Last week against Stanford, Garbers regained the reins and engineered one of the smoothest wins of the season.

Forty-two points for UCLA, no turnovers, a ground game that got cooking, a quarterback who kept the offense ticking like a metronome, and a convincing win.

Moore played, and he completed four of his five passes for 26 yards. The exposure was drastically reduced after three consecutive games with a pick-six to his name.

When Kelly met with reporters on Monday, he said Garbers drew the start because Moore was unable to practice much at the beginning of the week.

“Ethan’s done everything well since he’s been here,” Kelly said. “At the beginning of the week, Ethan got a lot more reps in practice because Dante was banged up. So, over the course of the week, we decided we were gonna go with Ethan.”

Moore is fine now, Kelly said, pointing to his inclusion late in the 42-7 win over the Cardinal. Kelly said Moore was “really good toward the end of the week.”

Three straight games against hard-hitting defenses — Utah, Oregon State, Washington State — took their toll, Kelly suggested.

But Moore is back and “full-go.” Schlee is also available.

Kelly isn’t giving any hints as to who will start on Saturday when the Bruins host the Buffaloes (4:30 p.m. PT, ABC).

“I’ll answer the question for the 10,000th time for you: We make our decision at the end of the week,” Kelly said. “So, I couldn’t tell you who’s gonna be up or down by the end of the week, and when we get to the end of the week, we’ll sit down as a staff and go through it.”
