Chip Kelly will handle quarterbacks in the LA Bowl against Boise State on Dec. 16 following the departure of Ryan Gunderson to Oregon State. Kelly also confirmed Monday when he met with reporters that Ken Niumatalolo will coach tight ends.

As for the defense, following the departure of D’Anton Lynn to USC, Ikaika Malloe will call the plays for the defense in the bowl game.

Kelly said Clancy Pendergast and Greg Burns are both moving from their roles as analysts into on-field roles for the bowl game.

Given the early nature of the bowl, Kelly says UCLA won’t make a decision on Lynn’s replacement until after the game is finished. Decisions on replacements for Gunderson and Jeff Faris — who left his role as tight ends coach to take over as Austin Peay’s head coach — will come after Dec. 16 as well.

The Bruins will be without starting edge rusher Laiatu Latu and starting safety Kamari Ramsey for the game, two of UCLA’s top six tacklers this season.

Kickoff from the LA Bowl is set for 4:30 p.m. PT on ABC on Saturday.
