Amari Bailey had himself a poster. The UCLA freshman guard had, perhaps, the dunk of the year.Β Against Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament championship game on Saturday, Bailey cocked back and exploded for a thunderous tomahawk slam right on Arizona’s Pelle Larsson.

And then it was waived off.

For… some reason.

The basket didn’t count after an official (though not the one under the basket with the best view of the play) appeared to signal a push-off offensive foul on Bailey.

That call caused UCLA coach Mick Cronin to explode on the sideline. Fortunately for Cronin, the officiating crew held the whistle and did not issue a technical foul. It could have, but that would have been compounding a clearly poor whistle.

And the rest of the basketball-viewing public agreed. Twitter lit up with a chorus of folks calling the offensive foul one of the worst calls they’ve seen.
