Stanford has been riding a hot recruiting stretch throughout June, adding to a 2024 recruiting class that is now ranked inside the top 10 nationally. While that class is still the focus, the Cardinal picked up an early commitment for 2025 on Friday.

The player is Maxwell Richardson, a 3-star athlete out of Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to his commitment, Richardson received offers from Minnesota, Boston College, Western Michigan and Central Michigan.

“…After an incredible trip out to Palo Alto, a fantastic camp and tour, and of course, an offer, I’m more than excited to announce I have made the generational decision to commit to Stanford to pursue my academic and athletic career,” wrote Richardson in his announcement.

Richardson is listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds. He’s made plays on both sides of the ball as a linebacker and tight end in high school and is rated as a 3-star recruit and the 62nd ATH nationally for the 2025 recruiting class per 247 Sports.
