Stanford adds to 2024 class with commitment from Sierra Canyon safety
Stanford landed a commitment from Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon safety Jaylen Sumlin on Tuesday.
The Cardinal hosted Sumlin on an official visit over the weekend and sealed the deal. He had future officials planned to Boston College and Washington State later this month but decided to shut things down. Sumlin has reported offers from Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington as well.

A 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete, Sumlin is a 3-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite and ranks as the 86th-best prospect from the state of California. He’s the No. 117 athlete and the No. 1084 overall recruit in the class.
Sumlin has good size at the position and solid instincts as a tackler in space. He caught two touchdowns as a junior last fall and recorded 27 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, one interception, and one pass breakup.
He becomes Stanford’s eighth known commit in the 2024 class. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
