Rest in peace, Pac-12. If the league was hanging on by a thread entering August, the conference is all but assured to fold after Friday’s flurry of moves.

Then again, maybe not. Maybe the 4 remaining teams can rally, find some willing suitors and re-emerge as a functional league for the future. Either way, the Pac-12 as we currently know it is no more.

Friday’s action started with reports that Oregon and Washington were expected to jump to the Big Ten, a move that arguably has been in the making since USC and UCLA announced plans to move. That was followed up by the news that Arizona State and Utah were following Arizona (and Colorado) to the Big 12.

Those moves leave the Pac-12 with 4 committed members for 2024 and beyond in Stanford, Cal, Washington State and Oregon State. Fans and media across the country reacted to the news in expected fashion.
