Reported realignment moves draw reactions from fans, media about Playoff and scheduling
The Pac-12’s automatic bid to the College Football Playoff, and future B1G scheduling. Those are just a couple of the immediate questions and reactions among fans and media following the report that Oregon and Washington are leaving the Pac-12 for the B1G.
With the move by the schools with bigger brands in their states, some fans wondered about the other schools, such as Oregon State and Washington State. The one-time Alliance between the ACC, B1G and Pac-12 was recalled, and the B1G schedule with USC and UCLA will also need to be reworked as long as Oregon and Washington make it in 2024.
Peter Burns of the SEC Network shared that he believes the top 6 automatic bid conferences will still be in place despite realignment.
Here’s a sample of the reactions:
Fascinating to see how the @CFBPlayoff plays out now in 2024.
From my understanding the Top 6 Auto-bids for highest ranked conferences teams will still be intact despite the conference realignment.

This is incredibly stupid and short sighted and only helps our corporate overlords FOX Sports. And Oregon and Washington. Hopefully the 50% share is in perpetuity because an eventual full share dilutes the pie for existing teams. https://t.co/fbdX9AOrHX

This deserves further reflection.
Sometimes they tell you precisely what they’re going to do, even though at the time it was said in rather cryptic fashion.
The B1G now has a true alliance with USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon.
Some members of the ACC may be next. https://t.co/GS1kNrFrGU— JayBirdLewis (@WestBGVirginian) August 4, 2023
The fabric of college football as we know it relies on schools like Oregon State and Washington State having a seat at the table.
Their relegation to a non-power conference would be a tragedy.
But TV money trumps their history, investment in football, and recent success.

Easy solution: Get rid of Rutgers and Northwestern and give Oregon and Washington their schedules. Problem solved! https://t.co/PQL5xPmaEB

Desperately need Oregon State and Washington State to beat the brakes off of their in-state opponents this year.

Oregon and Washington saw how it’s gone for Nebraska, Texas A&M, Mizzou, etc. and said, “Yes, I want that”.

Wow, with the addition of Oregon and Washington, Penn State has some serious competition for 3rd place now.

USC folded under the NCAA football pressure 💰& killed the PAC
The PAC are top or close to top in every other sport except football (so called)&PAC ,UCLA Oregon Utah Washington etc. were about to get the🏈 exposure they needed because of USC resurgence,it was strictly 🏈 decision— Rocwan DaBomb💣 (@Rocwan007) August 4, 2023
