Potential Pac-12 media rights partner emerges as discussions continue, per report
The Pac-12 has reportedly made progress on a media rights deal, but a potential formal offer is still outstanding, according to a new report from Action Network.
Brett McMurphy reported that ION television has emerged as a possible Pac-12 partner. Its parent company is E.W. Scripps Company, and ION has 61 local TV stations nationwide and earlier this year launched Scripps Sports.
However, those local stations are not in Phoenix, Tucson, or Denver, 3 Pac-12 markets, the Arizona Republic reported. It has 2 stations in Los Angeles, and one station in Portland, Seattle-Tacoma, San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose and Salt Lake City.
There have been reports of a possible deal between the Pac-12 and Apple for Pac-12 football, but neither organization has confirmed it, and McMurphy reported that Apple has not made a formal offer.
