For months, the college sports world has followed numerous reports and rumors regarding the Pac-12’s next media rights deal. Schools’ compensation under the next deal is likely to dictate whether the conference is able to hold onto its retaining 10 members and potentially expand, or if current member schools will leave for other conferences.

College football insiders Stewart Mandel of The Athletic and Pete Thamel of ESPN share that the latest discussions suggest the Pac-12 may not have a new deal until late spring or early summer.

Back on March 16, Arizona President Robert Robbins was quoted in a CBS Sports article as suggesting a deadline of April 15 for a new deal.  The Pac-12’s current media rights deal has 15 months remaining. Thamel suggests the new deal may be announced with roughly 1 year remaining, a la the Big Ten.
