Pac-12 lands 2 players on Associated Press All-America second team
The Pac-12 got its share of players on another postseason awards list, as the Associated Press came out with its All-America teams on Tuesday.
Arizona’s Azuolas Tubelis and UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. each made the second team.
Tubelis is among 5 finalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award. This season, Tubelis separated himself as one of the best power forwards in the country by leading the Pac-12 in scoring and rebounding, just the seventh player in conference history to accomplish that feat and the first since 2005-06. His 13 double-doubles in the regular season ranked second in the conference and was among the top 15 players in the country for made field goals this season.
This is the latest honor for Jaquez, who already been named as one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Player of the Year Award, and was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year. He averages 17.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 34 games for the Bruins this season. He has shot 47% from the field and 77% at the free throw line. He was one of 10 players named as a first-team All-Pac-12 selection last week, and he’s among 5 candidates for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award.
The first team was Alabama’s Brandon Miller, Kansas’ Jalen Wilson, Purdue’s Zach Edey, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis and Houston’s Marcus Sasser.
Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe rounded out the second team, along with Gonzaga’s Drew Timme and Penn State’s Jalen Pickett.
