Pac-12 Football in Week 2: TV info, betting odds, and predictions
Pac-12 football opened the new year 13-0, the only Power Five conference in the country to start unbeaten. The Week 2 slate will put that unbeaten record to the test in a major way.
Here’s the full schedule for the weekend, with all the info you need to know in each game.
No. 22 Colorado vs. Nebraska
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 9 a.m. PT
Location: Folsom Field, Boulder, Colorado
TV Network: FOX, streaming on FOXSports.com
Betting odds
Line: Colorado -2.5
Total: 58.5
Money line: Colorado -142, Nebraska +118
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives Colorado a 41.2% chance of beating the Huskers.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 30-22 Nebraska victory.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a win for Colorado:
I’ve got Colorado in this one, not because I expect them to be good, but because the Huskers have been so bad. Let’s not forget, while Rhule is a turnaround master, he went a combined 3-21 in his first seasons at Temple and Baylor.
Baylor vs. No. 12 Utah
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 9 a.m. PT
Location: McLane Stadium, Waco, Texas
TV Network: ESPN, streaming on WatchESPN
Betting odds
Line: Utah -7.5
Total: 46.5
Money line: Utah -345, Baylor +270
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives Utah a 73.5% chance of beating Baylor.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ has the Utes winning 35-22.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a loss for Utah on the road:
Traveling to Waco for another tough nonconference test, I’m less optimistic of the Utes surviving Rising’s absence. I’m not particularly bullish on the Bears, who fell to 6-7 last year after going 12-2 in Dave Aranda’s 2nd season, but they are a bit better than Florida and get the Utes at home. I do think Aranda will clean up some of the mistakes that led to 3 1-score losses last year.
No. 8 Washington vs. Tulsa
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 2 p.m. PT
Location: Husky Stadium, Seattle, Washington
TV Network: Pac-12 Network
Betting odds
Line: Washington -34.5
Total: 65.5
Money line: N/A
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives UW a 94.8% chance of beating Tulsa.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 48-15 victory for the Huskies.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a UW win:
Tulsa’s middling 2022 season ended on a high note with season-ending wins over South Florida and at Houston. But any momentum the Golden Hurricane built will end abruptly with back-to-back matchups against the Huskies and No. 20 Oklahoma Sooners. The first meeting between the programs won’t be very close. Penix goes for 350 and 3 score and the defense settles in after a tougher Week 1.
Texas Tech vs. No. 13 Oregon
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 4 p.m. PT
Location: Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, Texas
TV Network: FOX, streaming on FOXSports.com
Betting odds
Line: Oregon -6.5
Total: 68.5
Money line: Oregon -235, Texas Tech +190
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives Oregon a 67.4% chance of beating the Red Raiders.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 38-26 victory for the Ducks.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a convincing Oregon win.
Washington State vs. No. 19 Wisconsin
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 4:30 p.m. PT
Location: Martin Stadium, Pullman, Washington
TV Network: ABC, streaming on WatchESPN
Betting odds
Line: Wisconsin -5.5
Total: 58.5
Money line: Wisconsin -230, Washington State +188
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives the Cougs a 36.5% chance of beating the Badgers.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 28-23 victory for Wisconsin.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a WSU loss:
Luke Fickell went just 4-8 in his debut season at Cincinnati before turning the Bearcats into an elite Group of 5 program. I’m guessing he has a bit of a better introduction with Wisky. The Badgers will be thirsty for retribution after Wazzu won in Madison last year, 17-14, even if their quarterback, Tanner Mordecai, is a new addition from SMU. He had 72 touchdowns the past 2 years with the Mustangs.
He’ll have 300 yards and 3 scores against the Cougars to spoil their home opener.
Mississippi State vs. Arizona
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 4:30 p.m. PT
Location: Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, Mississippi
TV Network: SEC Network, streaming on WatchESPN
Betting odds
Line: Mississippi State -9.5
Total: 60.5
Money line: Mississippi State -385, Arizona +300
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives the Wildcats a 25.1% chance of beating the Bulldogs.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 38-23 MSU win.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts an Arizona loss:
MSU is switching schemes and will be more balanced under new coach Zach Arnett, but with Rogers back and the game shifting to Starkville, it’s hard to imagine a different outcome.
San Diego State vs. UCLA
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 4:30 p.m. PT
Location: Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego, California.
TV Network: CBS, streaming on Paramount+
Betting odds
Line: UCLA -13.5
Total: 48.5
Money line: UCLA -600, San Diego State +430
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives the Bruins an 81.9% chance of beating the Aztecs.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 32-18 UCLA win.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a UCLA win:
Now this is a test. Maybe not a final, but at least an early unannounced pop quiz. The Aztecs are generally considered a 2nd-tier Mountain West team, 3rd or 4th in the conference. Compared to last year’s UCLA non-conference schedule, it’s a step up, but not generally imposing.
Of course, the last time they met, SDSU won 23-14, snapping a 21-1-0 UCLA streak.
This will be the game that determines the future of the Bruins’ quarterback position. And for these purposes, that future is Moore.
No. 16 Oregon State vs. UC Davis
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 6 p.m. PT
Location: Reser Stadium, Corvallis, Oregon
TV Network: Pac-12 Network
Betting odds
Line: N/A
Total: N/A
Money line: N/A
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives Oregon State a 97.4% chance of beating the Aggies.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 36-21 win for the Beavs.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a blowout Beaver win.
No. 6 USC vs. Stanford
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 7:30 p.m. PT
Location: L.A. Coliseum, Los Angeles, California
TV Network: FOX, streaming on FOXSports.com
Betting odds
Line: USC -29.5
Total: 69.5
Money line: USC -10000, Stanford +2200
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives USC a 94.3% chance of beating the Cardinal.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 45-13 USC win.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a huge USC win:
USC start its season a week earlier than its Pac-12 competitors and kicks off league play 2 full weeks early. The Trojans take on a Stanford team still transitioning to new head coach Troy Taylor, and it would be a surprise if the Cardinal can learn Taylor’s language that quickly. Would it matter, though? Stanford hasn’t been at a talent disadvantage this stark in this rivalry since the mid-2000s, when USC was ruling college football. The Cardinal are breaking in a new quarterback, still to be determined, and have holes on both sides of the ball.
California vs. North Texas
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 7:30 p.m. PT
Location: Memorial Stadium, Berkeley, California
TV Network: ESPN, streaming on WatchESPN
Betting odds
Line: Auburn -6.5
Total: 54.5
Money line: Auburn -255, Cal +205
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives Cal a 54.9% chance of beating Auburn.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 31-24 Auburn win.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts a Cal loss:
Cal maintains a slight edge in ESPN’s Football Power Index predictions, but new Auburn coach Hugh Freeze might have something to say about that. The Tigers haven’t found their footing since 2019 after a disastrous run under Bryan Harsin, culminating in the program’s worst season since 2012. Cal last played (and beat) an SEC team in 2019, winning at Ole Miss, 28-20.
Arizona State vs. Oklahoma State
TV and Kickoff Time
Kickoff time: 7:30 p.m. PT
Location: Mountain America Stadium, Tempe, Arizona
TV Network: FS1, streaming on FOXSports.com
Betting odds
Line: Oklahoma State -3.5
Total: 55.5
Money line: Oklahoma State -152, Arizona State +126
Score predictions
ESPN’s FPI gives ASU a 29.3% chance of beating Oklahoma State.
Bill Connelly’s SP+ predicts a 33-24 OSU win.
Saturday Out West’s Jon Gold predicts an ASU loss.
