The preseason All-Pac-12 team, as selected by the media who cover league, was announced on Tuesday ahead of the 2022 season.  Utah, the league’s defending champion, and USC led the way with six first-team selections each.

After a school-record 21 rushing touchdowns in 2021, Utah tailback Tavion Thomas landed on the First Team alongside tight end Brant Kuithe and offensive lineman Braeden Daniels. The Utes also had three on the first-team defense: defensive lineman Van Fillinger, corner Clark Phillips III, and safety Cole Bishop. Quarterback Cam Rising landed on the Second Team offense as the quarterback.

The First Team quarterback spot went to USC’s Caleb Williams. He was joined on offense by wideouts Mario Williams and Jordan Addison and offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees. Running back Travis Dye landed on the First Team as in the all-purpose/special teams spot. Tuli Tuipulotu was the lone Trojan defender on the First Team while defensive back Mekhi Blackmon landed on the Second Team.

After the offseason the Trojans had, it seemed fitting that five of USC’s nine selections across the two teams were from transfer players. (Dye was a first-team specialist and a second-team running back.)

Oregon placed four on the First Team, with Alex Forsyth and TJ Bass on the offensive line and defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus and linebacker Noah Sewell taking spots on the defense. Byron Cardwell was a second-team running back while linebacker Justin Flowe and corner Christian Gonzalez landed on the Second Team defense. Camden Lewis was the second-team kicker.

In total, USC had the most selections of anyone across the two teams with 10. Utah was next with nine, Oregon had eight, and Oregon State had seven. Cal, UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State each had three. Washington State, Washington, and Stanford each had two. Colorado did not have a player on the two teams.
