Mountain West informs San Diego State it will remain a conference member following intention to withdraw
San Diego State has changed its mind a lot across the past month or 2.
The program originally informed the Mountain West that it intended to leave the conference, potentially for the Pac-12. But with the Power 5 conference attempting to find a new TV deal and missing the deadline to do so on June 30, SDSU requested it remain a MWC member moving forward.
On Tuesday, the Mountain West obliged. San Diego State will now have to covering fees that the conference expensed over legal work during a letter exchange regarding the potential withdrawal.
San Diego State originally sent the Mountain West a letter announcing its *intention* to withdraw; the MWC took it as a formal withdrawal & withheld distribution.
After Pac-12 failed to finalize a new TV deal by SDSU’s June 30 deadline, SDSU requested it remain a MWC member.

The Pac-12 is in a bit of a weird spot as things stand. USC and UCLA are set to join the B1G soon and the Pac-12 is still trying to find a TV deal after looking for a right’s package for a year now.
