Kirk Herbstreit releases list of top individual performances from Week 1
Kirk Herbstreit is back to his usual routine. The former Ohio State standout and College GameDay analyst listed his top individual performances from a strong Week 1 late Tuesday night.
Herbstreit liked what he saw from 5 Pac-12 standouts: Colorado’s trio of Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter and Dylan Edwards, Washington’s Michael Penix and UCLA’s Laiatu Latu.
Here’s the rest of his list, including Jordan Travis, Kaimon Rucker and Penn State QB Drew Allar, among others.

We have to start with Colorado, the surprise of Week 1 by miles. And that’s during a week where Duke not only beat Clemson, but thoroughly embarrassed their ACC rival.
Sanders, Hunter and Edwards were unbelievable Saturday and it’s no wonder Herbstreit put all 3 at the top – it’s hard to pick a best performance from the 3. Sanders launched a legitimate Heisman bid with 510 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.
Hunter played both sides of the ball and shined in both roles, adding 11 receptions for 119 yards on offense while playing lockdown defense in the secondary, including 1 interception.
And Edwards was just a touchdown machine. The freshman finished with 4 touchdowns, 3 receiving and 1 rushing, while putting up 159 total yards.
Penix had a strong day for Washington, too. The early Heisman candidate totaled 450 passing yards with 5 touchdowns during the Huskies’ 56-19 win over Boise State.
Finally, there’s Latu. The UCLA DL bullied Coastal Carolina’s offensive line, finishing the day with 3 sacks. The Bruins hung on to win over a good Chanticleers squad, 27-13.
