Kirk Herbstreit gave some praise to Utah’s Kyle Whittingham and Washington co-defensive coordinators William Inge and Chuck Morrell following Week 8.

Whittingham deserves a ton of praise after once again beating USC to diminish the Trojans’ chances of competing for a Pac-12 title and College Football Playoff spot. The Utes have beaten the Trojans in four-straight games now.

Inge and Morrell kept the Arizona State offense from moving the football as Michael Penix Jr and the Washington offense had one of their worst performances of the year.

The defensive coordinator pairing limited the Sun Devils to seven points and forced the offense into a 5-for-17 third down conversion rate. Washington’s defense also accounted for the only touchdown of the game with an 89-yard pick-6 from Mishael Powell.

Here’s Herbstreit’s list of top-performing coaches for Week 8:

The other coaches who were featured on Herbie’s list included Tony Elliott (Virginia HC), Jim Knowles (Ohio State DC), Joe Rossi (Minnesota DC), and Greg Schiano (Rutgers HC).

Some big programs suffered tough losses in Week 8 and that should be partially because of the gameplans drawn up by these coaches.
