College GameDay aired the final Saturday morning college basketball broadcast of the regular season on-site for the Duke-North Carolina rivalry matchup. In the Pac-12, UCLA and Arizona will also square off in a game that has high stakes between a pair of top-10 teams.

With conference tournaments coming up next week, there is always the chance of a rematch between teams facing off this late in the season. Rece Davis brought up that topic, but he did so with the thought of taking a shot at the Pac-12 and swirling realignment rumors.

“Like we might see Duke and Carolina next week, maybe we’ll see Arizona and UCLA next week again too, in the Big 12/Big Ten challenge,” poked Davis.

“Too soon?” Davis questioned to a chorus of laughter from his co-hosts. “I mean the Pac-12 Championship Game.”

At the end of the day, rumors around potential realignment involving Pac-12 teams bolting for the Big 12 — or elsewhere — are unlikely to go anywhere until the league signs a new media rights deal. Still, it is semi-shocking to see ESPN’s marquee college sports show joke flippantly about something that would have serious ramifications for the future of the Pac-12.
