College football's first touchdown of the 2022 season
College football’s first touchdown of the new season belongs to Western Kentucky.
The Hilltoppers are hosting FCS Austin Peay in the opening kickoff of Week 0, and it only took two drives for the Hilltoppers to find the end zone. The Hilltoppers scored points at a blistering rate last season behind record-setting quarterback Bailey Zappe, but Zappe has moved on and the offense now belongs to Austin Reed.
Reed found wideout Malachi Corley for a 16-yard score on a drive that also featured a fourth-down conversion:

Western Kentucky and Austin Peay are playing over on CBS Sports Network. The slate this weekend is a little light on marquee matchups, but action starts off hot next weekend in Week 1.
Arizona State kicks off the Pac-12 season on Thursday night against Northern Arizona. Colorado plays TCU Friday night. Oregon-Georgia and Utah-Florida highlight the Saturday slate.
