Oregon State season opener moved to new date
Oregon State’s season opener is now on Sunday.
A television commitment has caused the Beavers game against San Jose State to move from Sept. 2 to Sept. 3. The schools reportedly worked out a TV agreement to move the game, Oregon Live reported. The network and a game time will be announced at a later date.
Oregon State now has 3 of its 12 games next season that will not be played on Saturday. The Beavers play Friday games against Utah and Oregon.
The Beavers went 10-3 last season, and finished with a Las Vegas Bowl victory over Florida.
In December, Oregon State and coach Jonathan Smith agreed to a six-year, $30.6 million contract.
Smith is 25-31 in his 5 seasons at Oregon State. The Beavers posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2012-13.
