Oregon State running back Damien Martinez reportedly arrested
Oregon State running back Damien Martinez was arrested for DUII (driving under the influence of intoxicants) on Wednesday night in Corvallis.
According to KEZI9’s Brett Taylor, Martinez was booked and then later released. Officers pulled him over for running a red light and then, when they approached the vehicle, the officer on scene smelled marijuana coming from inside the car.
The 6-foot tailback from Lewisville, Texas, is a true sophomore for the Beavs. At the end of the regular season, Martinez ranks second in the Pac-12 in rushing this season, with 1,185 yards on 194 carries. He has scored nine touchdowns this season after a 982-yard, seven-touchdown debut in 2022.
Oregon State is currently awaiting its bowl bid. The Beavers lost to Oregon last Friday, 31-7.
According to Oregon law, DUII is usually deemed a Class A misdemeanor for first-time offenders. A conviction can carry fines, probation, a license suspension, and either community service or jail time.
