Oregon State on Friday announced that hired Boise State running backs coach Keith Bhonapha to the same position in Corvallis. The news was first reported by FOX Sports and The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.

Bhonapha reunites with Beavers head coach Jonathan Smith as the 2 were part of Chris Petersen’s staff at both Boise State and Washington from 2012-2017.

“I’m excited to be able to announce Keith’s addition to our coaching staff,” Smith said in a statement. “He’s an experienced coach and leader who has sent a number of players to the NFL while being a member of championship teams at Boise State and Washington.”

Bhonapha played collegiately at Hawaii from 1999-2002 before joining the program as a graduate assistant. He then joined the Boise State staff as its running backs coach between 2009-2013 (serving as recruiting coordinator as well in 2012 and 2013) before taking the same role at Washington from 2014-2021, adding special teams duties in his final season with the program.

In 2022, he returned to Boise, again coaching the Broncos’ running backs while serving as associate head coach. He will now head to Corvallis as a member of Smith’s staff.
