Omar Speights’ mother took to social media on Thursday evening to discuss her son’s transfer from Oregon State to LSU.

Speights spent 4 years with the Beavers, totaling 304 tackles and 25.0 TFLs during his time in Corvallis. In 2022, he made 83 tackles and 8.0 tackles for a loss, garnering All-Pac 12 1st-team honors. With 1 year of eligibility remaining, instead of declaring for the NFL Draft, he opted to head to the SEC, landing in Baton Rouge to play for Brian Kelly.

Later, Patricia Reichner, Speights’ mother, shared a message to Beavers fans on Twitter.

“Dear Beaver Nation, This is probably the hardest tweet ever. Please know this was not an easy decision for Omar,” she wrote. “I thank you for supporting him from day one. I am so grateful for all of you. We will always bleed orange and black, so this is not goodbye!”

While Speights has put the wraps on a solid college career in the Pacific Northwest, the Philadelphia native will now take his talents down South and hopefully boost his solid draft status even more.
