DJ Uiagalelei transferred to Oregon State during the offseason after 3 seasons at Clemson.

The senior, who never quite lived up to expectations at Clemson, opted for a fresh start in Corvallis. And during the Beavers’ season opener at San Jose State, Uiagalelei has found paydirt for the first time in 2023.

With OSU facing a 3rd-and-goal inside the Spartans 1, Uiagalelei opted to call his own number, punching it in on a keeper to open the scoring with just under 6 minutes to play in the 1st quarter. Take a look at the play below:

That’s Uiagalalei’s 16th career rushing touchdown. He totaled 4 during both the 2020 and 2021 seasons while striking for 7 in 2022.

Beavers fans will hope that it’s a sign of things to come for their team, especially considering the success it enjoyed last season. Jonathan Smith led OSU to its 1st 10-win season since 2006 and its first bowl victory in a decade, along with a top-20 postseason ranking for the first time since 2012. Can the Beavers raise the bar even further in the 2023 campaign with Uiagalelei behind center?
